We’re an independent repair shop. We repair screens on Windows laptops from all the main brands, from thin business ultrabooks and 2-in-1 touchscreens to large gaming laptops. Signs your laptop screen needs repair

  • Cracked or shattered glass, or a black patch spreading from a pressure point.
  • Lines across the picture. Coloured or white lines, often after a drop or a knock to the lid.
  • Flicker or a picture that cuts out when you move the lid. This is often the display cable, not the panel.
  • Dead pixels or dark spots that don’t go away after a restart.
  • A black or very dim screen while the laptop still makes sounds and the keyboard lights up.
  • The touchscreen stops responding, or touches register in the wrong place.

Quick test before you send it in

Plug the laptop into an external monitor or TV. If the picture looks fine there, the laptop itself is working and the fault is in the screen, its cable or the hinge area. If the external screen is blank too, the problem may be on the board. See laptop motherboard repair.

What we do

A screen fault isn’t always a broken panel. A loose or worn display cable, a hinge pinching the cable, or a graphics fault on the board can look the same. So we check first and give you a quote before any work starts.

Inspect first

We test the panel, the display cable and the picture on an external monitor, then tell you what we found and what it will take.

Cracked screen replacement

If the glass or panel is cracked, we replace the screen with one that matches your model’s size, resolution and connector.

Lines, flicker & dim screens

We check the display cable and backlight before we replace a panel, so you don’t pay for a screen you didn’t need.

Touchscreens & 2-in-1s

Touch models often have the glass and panel bonded together. We’ll tell you which type you have and what it means for the repair.

Hinge & lid damage

What affects the cost

We don’t publish a fixed price for laptop screen repair, because the cause and the part vary so much between models. The main things that change the quote:

  • Your exact panel. Size, resolution, refresh rate and touch or non-touch all change the part.
  • How the screen is built. Some panels come out on their own. Others are bonded to the glass or sold as a full lid assembly.
  • What else is damaged. A drop can also crack the lid cover, bend a hinge or damage the display cable.

Business laptops & fleets

On company laptops, screen damage usually comes from bags, drops or something left on the keyboard when the lid closed. If several laptops of the same model need screens, tell us so we can check parts together. Check warranty or accidental damage cover first (see next business day warranty). Still under manufacturer warranty?

Check with the manufacturer or your reseller first. If the laptop is still covered, the repair may cost you nothing, and an independent repair could affect that cover. Company laptops often come with onsite cover, so see next business day warranty and check the service tag or serial number on the maker’s support site. If the warranty has ended, or the damage isn’t covered, we’re happy to help.

Questions people ask

Is it worth repairing a cracked laptop screen?

Often, yes, if the rest of the laptop works well. The screen is one part, and a new one can give a good laptop several more years. If the laptop is old and slow as well, we’ll say so honestly and you can decide.

Can you fix lines on my laptop screen without replacing it?

Sometimes. If the lines come from a loose or worn display cable, replacing the cable can fix it. If the panel itself is damaged, it needs a new screen. An external monitor test tells us which.

Will I lose my data?

A screen repair doesn’t touch your storage, so your files normally stay as they are. Back up before you bring it in anyway. See 3-2-1 backup.
