MacBook Fan Replacement in Singapore
Fan roaring all the time, grinding, or not spinning at all? MacBook running hot and slow? We clean and replace fans on MacBook Pro and Intel MacBook Air models at our Bugis store.
WhatsApp 9011 1239Visit usWe’re an independent repair shop. Singapore’s heat and humidity are hard on laptop fans, and dust builds up fast. It’s free to ask for a quote on WhatsApp. Send the model name from Apple menu > About This Mac, and tell us when the fan noise or heat happens.
Signs of a MacBook fan problem
- Loud fans all the time, even with only a browser open.
- Grinding, rattling or clicking from inside the case. This often means a worn fan bearing.
- No fan noise and a very hot base, followed by slowdowns or shutdowns.
- The MacBook slows down under load. MacBooks slow themselves down to stay cool when the cooling isn’t working well.
Does your MacBook have a fan?
- MacBook Pro. Every MacBook Pro has one or two fans, from the Retina 13 and 15-inch (2015) and the 2016 to 2020 Intel models to the 14 and 16-inch M-series models.
- Intel MacBook Air. The MacBook Air from Early 2015 to the Retina 13-inch (2020) has one fan.
- MacBook Air with Apple silicon. The M1, M2, M3, M4 and M5 MacBook Air models have no fan. They cool passively and slow down under long, heavy work. There’s no fan to replace. If one runs hot even when idle, we can check it for other faults.
- 12-inch MacBook. The 2015 to 2017 models are also fanless.
What we do
Find the cause
We check temperatures, fan speed and what’s using the processor. A runaway app or a faulty sensor can make fans run flat out.
Clean the cooling
We clean dust and lint from the fan, heatsink and vents, which is often all a loud MacBook needs.
Replace the fan
If the bearing is worn or a blade is broken, we fit a new fan and check it runs at the right speeds.
Thermal paste
On older Intel MacBooks we can renew dried-out thermal paste where it helps.
Heat damage check
Long-term overheating can stress the battery. We tell you if we see swelling or other damage.
Your data stays put
Fan work doesn’t touch your storage, so your files normally stay as they are.
What affects the cost
- Clean or replace. A clean costs less than a new fan.
- Your model. Two-fan MacBook Pro models take more work than a one-fan Air.
- Other faults. A sensor or board fault behind the fan noise adds work.
Send us your model and a short video with the fan sound on WhatsApp for a quote.
Parts and warranty
3-month warranty, OEM parts with original quality. We fit OEM fans matched to your model and test them under load before you collect.
Before you bring it in
- Back up. If the MacBook still turns on, run Time Machine or check iCloud has synced. See 3-2-1 backup.
- Activation Lock. If Find My is on, the MacBook is tied to an Apple Account. We need you, or the account owner, on hand if the Mac asks for it. We don’t bypass Activation Lock.
- Company MacBooks. If the Mac is managed through MDM, check with your IT team first. See MacBook repair for more on company Macs.
Still under AppleCare? Check with Apple first
If your MacBook is under Apple’s one-year limited warranty or an active AppleCare plan, check with Apple before you book any repair. The fault may be covered, and an independent repair could affect that cover. See Apple’s Mac laptop repair page. If the cover has ended, or the damage isn’t covered, we’re happy to help.
Questions people ask
My M-series MacBook Air gets hot. Can you fit a fan?
No. These models are designed without a fan and slow themselves down to stay cool. Some warmth under heavy work is normal. If it’s hot when idle, check Activity Monitor, then send us a message.
How often should a MacBook fan be cleaned?
It depends on where you use it. Dusty rooms, pets and using the MacBook on a bed or sofa all speed up dust build-up. If the fan is louder than it used to be, it’s worth a check.
Can a loud fan be fixed without replacing it?
Often, yes. Cleaning fixes many loud fans. A grinding or rattling fan usually has a worn bearing and needs replacing.
What can I try first?
Quit heavy apps, keep the vents clear and use the MacBook on a hard surface. See 7 tips to fix MacBook Pro overheating.
