The Huawei Mate 40 is Huawei’s latest and greatest phone, and it’s going to be the company’s flagship until 2020. Huawei Mate 40 comes with a 6.5-inch screen that runs at 1080×2376 pixels at 402 ppi density. Huawei claims that this pixel density will result in sharper images than other phones on the market, as well as better battery life due to less power being consumed by each individual pixel of the display.
Huawei also included three rear cameras on their newest device. The device includes a front 13 MP camera for selfies and video chatting. The Huawei Mate 40 has a 50MP + 16MP + 8MP triple rear camera setup. It also features an optical zoom that can get up to 3x magnification, which is impressive for devices at this price point. The Huawei Mate 40 packs in some very attractive specifications and performs responsibly well enough most of the time, but there are occasions when it struggles with exposure or loses focus on close-up shots.
The Huawei Mate 40 is powered by the Kirin 9000E 5G chipset and an Octa-core CPU. Huawei claims that Huawei Mate 40 will be able to provide real-time translation and other AI features while in use, as well.
The Huawei Mate 40 is similar on paper with the same Octa Core CPU, but uses Huawei’s Kirin 980 chipset which includes an NPU (Neural Processing Unit).
Huawei’s Mate 40 is for those who can make do without the Google ecosystem. This means no Gmail, Maps, or third party apps that rely on Play Services to work but if you want a flagship experience at an affordable price this may be your best bet! The Huawei mate 40 offers top-shelf performance in all aspects of daily life and has cameras comparable with other more expensive devices.
The Huawei Mate 40 is proof that you don’t have to be beholden to Google. It has a long lasting battery, advanced cameras and it’s so sleekly designed like an Apple product (minus all of those pesky cables).
