WhatsApp 9011 1239Visit usWe’re an independent repair shop. We repair fans and cooling on Windows laptops from all the main brands, from thin business laptops to gaming laptops that run hot every day. It’s free to ask for a quote on WhatsApp. Tell us the model, what the fan sounds like and when the laptop gets hot.
Signs your laptop fan or cooling needs repair
- The fan is loud all the time, even when you’re only reading email.
- Grinding, rattling or clicking from the vent area. Worn fan bearings often sound like this.
- The fan doesn’t spin, or you get a fan error at start-up.
- The laptop slows down when it warms up, then speeds up again once it cools.
- Sudden shutdowns during video calls, games or heavy work.
- The base is too hot to touch near the vents, or warm air barely comes out.
What we do
Overheating usually builds up from several small things: dust in the fan and fins, dried thermal paste, and a fan that’s starting to wear. We open the laptop, check the whole cooling system and quote before any work.
Inspect & test
We check the fan, heat sink, fins and vents, and watch temperatures under load to see how the laptop copes.
Internal cleaning
We remove dust and lint from the fan and cooling fins, which you can’t reach from the outside vents.
Thermal paste
We replace dried thermal paste between the chips and the heat sink, and thermal pads where the model uses them.
Fan replacement
If the fan is noisy, slow or seized, we replace it with one that matches your model.
Gaming laptops
Gaming laptops often have two fans and larger heat sinks. We service both sides of the cooling system.
Battery & board checks
Heat can come from a failing battery or a board fault. See laptop battery replacement and motherboard repair.
Want to try a few things first?
Use the laptop on a hard, flat surface, close apps you aren’t using, and check for updates. Our guide to laptop overheating in Singapore explains the causes and the home fixes in more detail. If it still runs hot after that, the problem is likely inside.
What affects the cost
We don’t publish a fixed price for fan or overheating repair, because the work depends on what we find inside. The main things that change the quote:
- Clean or replace. A fan that only needs cleaning is a smaller job than a worn fan that needs replacing.
- Your model. On some laptops the fan is easy to reach. On others the whole board has to come out first.
- Thermal paste and pads. Gaming and workstation laptops often have more to replace.
Send us your model on WhatsApp for a quote. A photo of the problem and the label under the laptop help us reply faster.
Business laptops & fleets
On company laptops, overheating tends to build up slowly across a whole batch of the same age. Fans clog and paste dries out at about the same rate. Planned servicing stops it becoming a problem: see preventive maintenance. Check warranty status first (see next business day warranty), and have the BitLocker recovery key ready in case it asks after a repair. For whole fleets, see managed IT services.

Fan repair by brand
MacBook?
For MacBooks, see MacBook fan replacement. MacBook Air models with Apple silicon have no fan, so heat problems there have other causes. See Apple silicon.
Still under manufacturer warranty?
Check with the manufacturer or your reseller first. If the laptop is still covered, the repair may cost you nothing, and an independent repair could affect that cover. Company laptops often come with onsite cover, so see next business day warranty and check the service tag or serial number on the maker’s support site. If the warranty has ended, or the damage isn’t covered, we’re happy to help.
Questions people ask
Can a noisy laptop fan be fixed by cleaning?
Sometimes. If the noise comes from dust on the blades, a clean can quieten it. If the bearing is worn, the noise comes back and the fan needs replacing. We’ll tell you which after we open it.
Is it safe to keep using an overheating laptop?
For a short while, on a hard surface and with light work. Running hot for weeks wears the battery and stresses the board. If it shuts down from heat or smells hot, stop using it and get it checked.
Will I lose my data?
Fan and cooling work doesn’t touch your storage, so your files normally stay as they are. Back up before you bring it in anyway. See 3-2-1 backup.
