A Surface that gets hot, throttles or shuts down. We check the cooling, the battery and the storage.

Surface models we repair

Microsoft stopped using numbers in Surface names in 2024, but most people still say Surface Pro 11 or Surface Laptop 7. Either is fine when you message us.

Surface Pro

The 2-in-1 tablet with a kickstand and detachable keyboard, and the Surface we see most. Screens are bonded to the body, so a cracked screen or a swelling battery needs careful work. Older units often need a new battery.

Common models: Surface Pro 13-inch (2026), Surface Pro 12-inch (2025), Surface Pro 11th Edition, Surface Pro 10 for Business, Surface Pro 9, Surface Pro 8, Surface Pro 7 and 7+, Surface Pro X, and Surface Pro 4, 5 and 6.

Surface Laptop

Microsoft’s clamshell laptop, used at home and at work. Keyboards, batteries and screens are the common repairs.

Common models: Surface Laptop 13.8-inch and 15-inch (2026), Surface Laptop 13-inch (2025), Surface Laptop 7th Edition, Surface Laptop 6 for Business, and Surface Laptop 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Surface Laptop Go

The smaller, lower-cost Surface Laptop. Battery wear and keyboard faults are common on older units.

Surface Laptop Studio

A creator laptop with a screen that pulls forward. The moving screen puts extra strain on the screen cable and hinge over time.

Surface Book

An older detachable laptop for creative work. Parts can be harder to find, so check with us first.

Surface Go

The small tablet-style Surface, popular with students. Cracked screens and worn batteries are the usual problems.

Company Surface devices

Surface Pro and Surface Laptop for Business models are common in offices. Before you hand one in, check these with your IT team:

  • BitLocker recovery key. Many company Windows laptops are encrypted. After a board or storage repair the laptop may ask for the key, so make sure IT can find it.
  • BIOS or supervisor password. If the laptop has one, we need IT to provide it or remove it. We don’t bypass these locks.
  • Warranty first. Business models are often bought with longer cover, such as a next-business-day onsite warranty. Check that before you pay for a repair.
  • Backups. Make sure work files are synced or backed up before the laptop leaves the office.

Still under manufacturer warranty?

Check with Microsoft first. If a fault is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, that is usually the cheapest fix. Opening the device or using an independent repairer may affect your warranty, so ask before you book a repair with anyone. If your Surface is out of warranty, or the damage isn’t covered, we’re happy to help.

Can you repair my Surface Pro screen?

Usually, yes. Surface Pro screens are bonded to the body, so the repair takes care. Send us the model first. Prices depend on the model and part. Send us the model on WhatsApp for a quote.

Will I lose my data?

Screen, battery and keyboard repairs don’t normally touch your storage. Board and liquid damage repairs carry more risk. Back up before you bring it in if the Surface still works. A 3-2-1 backup is a good habit.

How do I find my Surface model?

In Windows, open Settings > System > About, or the Surface app. On a Surface Pro, the model is also printed under the kickstand. On a Surface Laptop, check the label under the laptop.
